By Mr. Petch Prakakittikul, Director of Sustainism Initiatives ( stnsm.org ) and Mr. Phonphot Chaowirakit, CEO , O2OESG ( o2oforum.com )

(Executive Context) Sustainable

  • Within the UN sustainability ecosystem, “Sustainable Consumption and Production—SCP” is a global strategic framework (SDG 12) that drives more efficient consumption and production, using less resources, reducing waste and improving quality of life for all, through the One Planet Network (10YFP), a multilateral platform bringing together governments, the private sector and civil society to accelerate this transition. un.org +2UNEP - UN Environment Programme+2

  • Operating Model between UN × Sustainism × O2OESG × “Clean Metropolis”

    • UN / One Planet Network : Provides policy frameworks, standards and tools (e.g., global SCP strategies) to enable countries/organizations to systematically transform public-private sector production and procurement towards sustainability. oneplanetnetwork.org +1

    • Sustainism Initiatives : An international organization specializing in “Sustainable Trade & ESG Transformation” that works to connect partners to the international arena, supported by AFMA (an intergovernmental organization under the initiative of FAO and UN ESCAP). Sustainism

    • O2OESG (by Mr. Phonpoj) : The ESG strategy and communication unit for Thailand and the region, responsible for translating strategies into action plans, certifications, and evidence-based communications to enhance global recognition (officially announced partnership with Sustainism). Sustainism+1

    • Clean Metropolis : A city waste management field operator—a “SCP in Action”—translates principles into real-world results, from source sorting and labor-based profit-sharing systems to evidence-based data linking to green procurement and sustainable finance.

    • UN sets standards ⇒ Sustainism designs a bridge connecting the world ⇒ O2OESG drives pedestrian crossings ⇒ Clean Metropolis demonstrates results on the ground

Four strategic pillars (4 Pillars) for “Sustainable Trade – Finance – Procurement – Innovation”

  1. Sustainable trade and supply chains

    • Use the UN/One Planet network standards as a common language for buyers and sellers to understand each other and measure “real impacts” together (GHG, Circularity, Fair Work, etc.). UNEP - UN Environment Programme

  2. Finance and Investment Readiness

    • O2OESG serves to “translate operational data into investor language” and provide a verifiable certification/communication process for access to high-quality capital. Sustainism

  3. Sustainable Procurement

    • Connect Clean Metropolis' field performance data with the SCP framework's green/outcome-based procurement criteria to enable measurable transformational change through "buying." oneplanetnetwork.org

  4. Innovation for SCP

    • Innovation doesn't just mean apps, it's about designing incentive systems, data tracking, and benefit-sharing models to scale up clean and sustainable cities in a way that aligns with SDG 12. un.org

Joint Workstream with Clean Metropolis

  1. Map → Measure → Monetize : Map the collection and sorting process, measure results (KPI/Impact Metric) to align with UN/One Planet indicators, and link to financial/funding products.

  2. Green Procurement Playbook : Develop criteria for proposing to government/private agencies to ensure that clean labor contracts include “outcome indicators” and “performance bonuses.”

  3. International Recognition : Using the Sustainism × O2OESG channel to enhance communication and certification to be listed as good practice in the United Nations network. oneplanetnetwork.org

Expected Results

  • Cleaner cities, measurable results and lower total social costs

  • Circular economy grows on “real data”, not rhetoric

  • Increased confidence from international investors/buyers

  • Thai procurement and trade system seamlessly connects to international standards
